The Youth Rugby Pads have a single wedge at the top of the pad which is useful firstly for the protection of whoever is holding the pad, and secondly so that the tackler has something to drive up into.
Training players to drive up when mauling and rucking is an important skill and the Youth Tackle Shields are designed to develop this skill.
The Youth Rugby Tackle Pads are one of the Smallest Tackle Pads we offer, they are recommended for ages 8 to 14 years old.
Please bear in mind that this is only a recommendation, the size of the user is the important factor when choosing Youth Rugby Shields.

The Youth Rugby Shields have two straps on the back of the pad for holding it in position, it can be effective to put one arm through both these straps rather than holding the straps with both hands.
